Workshop: Finding Your Place in God's Grand Story

Hosea. Hoshea. Is there a difference? Does it matter?

Jehoiachin, Jeremiah, John, Josiah, Jacob, Joshua, Joseph -- so many J's! Do they have anything to do with one another?

Not sure sometimes what you should and shouldn't pay attention to as you read the Bible? Ever wonder what all these figures might even remotely have to do with your own life today? If you're someone who sometimes wonders about the purpose of life and what on earth are you here for, join us for a hands-on, interactive session of seeing how the different books of the Bible fit together to tell God's Grand Story. As you begin to understand history as God wrote it, expect to gain a clearer picture of what His purposes are and where you fit in all of it!

Through a blend of lecture and discussion, participants can expect to:

  • Understand how individual books of the Bible piece together to form a continuous story

  • Acquire tools that will aid in your understanding of the Bible

  • Explore what God is doing from creation to new creation

  • Get a renewed vision of how your life fits into the bigger story

ABOUT YOUR SPEAKER

Melanie Lim

Melanie is passionate to see the rising up of a generation transformed by the love of God and living out their faith in every area of their lives. She desires to help young people discover their meaning in life - particularly in understanding how their “being" affects their “doing", and to see them grounded in the right knowledge of God. She firmly believes that this wisdom and understanding is essential for the transformation of nations.

Since the year 2004, Melanie has been involved in youth ministry in varying capacities, and served in a pastoral role in a Baptist church on her beloved island of origin - Penang, Malaysia, for 2 years before moving to Singapore. She was involved in worship, youth, teaching, and preaching ministries during her time there, and felt especially called to minister to the young adults, guiding them in making important decisions in their time of transition. Her heart is to see the Church walking in her highest calling - living missionally as she prepares for the return of the Bridegroom King upon earth. Attending a Discipleship Training School with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in the year 2010 was a defining moment for her as she began reflecting on what it means to live as a follower of Christ. Her involvement in the Penang House of Prayer and YWAM has also significantly shaped who she is, her deep conviction of the inseparability of prayer and missions, and of love and work.

As Faculty at Sterling Campus, Melanie spends her time discipling students in their daily walk with Christ, and guiding them in their intellectual pursuit. For fun, she enjoys picking up new musical instruments, climbing rocks, and baking.
